Favorite Course:

That’s like asking a parent which is their favorite child. Memorable Experiences in the Classroom:In Calculus II or III, Collier told an offhand mathematical joke (I can’t remember what it was now), whereupon I was the only one to laugh, and laugh loudly.

Memorable Experiences Outside the Classroom:

Going out for sushi with Collier and friends after my honors presentation.

Why Should Somebody Study Mathematics at UMW?

First of all, it’s a great major to have when looking for work. Second, the faculty is the most involved and helpful (and coolest) of the (3 or 4, depending on who’s counting) majors (or prospective majors) I went through. Finally, the students are some of the friendliest. (I attribute this to shared suffering.) Even if you try, as I did, not to socialize, you can’t help but come out of the program with a few new friends.
