Favorite Course:

Real Analysis, Modern Geometry, Cryptology Independent Study, Number Theory. I can’t decide!

Memorable Experiences in the Classroom:

Playing with Geometer’s Sketchpad and spheres in “Mod Geo!” Also, I loved when Dr. K would tell us stories about his college/grad school roommates. Even though my classmates and I would spend hours and hours working on problems (only to realize that the answer was a one line proof), the work ethic we gained and resources that were made available to us made it totally worth it!

Memorable Experiences Outside the Classroom:

My favorite events were the Calculus Tournament in 2011, MAA Radical Dash, and the annual Math Career Nights. The recruiters I met at the Career Nights gave me a great internship with CSC and my current job with NWSC!

Why Should Somebody Study Mathematics at UMW?

The math professors are fantastic! Each one has his/her own quirks and is completely willing to help you in any way possible, because they genuinely want you to succeed as a math student and reach your potential. The level of intimacy (only 15 students in class!) made the learning environment low-key and the professors approachable. I can’t imagine myself in any other academic department. UMW Math is the best. 3.14!
