The Prince William County Office of Criminal Justice Services promotes public safety by reducing recidivism. This agency serves the courts and community by providing assessment and supervision programs, such as the Pretrial Supervision Program, the Local Offenders Probation program, and the Community Domestic Violence Program. These programs serve the 31st Judicial District, which includes Prince William County and the cities of Manassas and Manassas Park.
Duties
- Performing intake interviews with offenders and completing the necessary paperwork
- Assisting in placement for community service and/or counseling referrals
- Meet with clients to ensure compliance with court-ordered obligations
- Contacting other agencies and persons to verify the residence and employment status of offenders
- Verifying participation in and/or completion of treatment and other court-ordered sanctions
- Collecting and forwarding restitution, fines, and other payments
Pre-Requisites
- Must meet all UMW and Department of Psychological Science internship requirements.
- Ability to pass a criminal background check

- PSYC 315 – Foundations of Clinical Psychology

- PSYC 346 – Forensic Psychology
- PSYC 242 – Psychology of Personality
- SOCG 352 – Criminology
Assessment
- 42 hours of work per credit hour (most interns do 3 credits with 126 hours of work)
- Grade is based on on-campus supervision, agency evaluation, reflective journal, and a final paper
