Healthy Generations Area Agency on Aging provides individual and community services for the elderly in the city of Fredericksburg and the counties of Caroline, King George, Spotsylvania, and Stafford.
Duties
- Planning programs for the elderly
- Delivering existing program services
- Interviewing candidates for services
- Providing public education
- Conducting research on the elderly
Pre-Requisites
- Must meet all UMW and Department of Psychological Science internship requirements.
- Required courses:
- PSYC 211 – Psychopathology or PSYC 201- Social Psychology
- PSYC 233 – Adult Development
- Recommended courses:
- PSYC 242 – Psychology of Personality
- PSYC 315- Foundations of Clinical Psychology
- SOCG 332- Introduction to Social Welfare
Assessment
- 42 hours of work per credit hour (most interns do 3 credits with 126 hours of work)
- Grade is based on on-campus supervision, agency evaluation, reflective journal, and a final paper
