After finishing her Master’s in Elementary Education at UMW, Kelsey decided to switch career paths and become a Child Life Specialist. She recently started working in this field at the Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU. Kelsey works with pediatric patients and their families to help them cope with hospitalization, surgery, and procedures using a variety of techniques, including play therapy, coping/relaxation strategies, developmentally appropriate education and preparation, and procedural support/distraction.
