Parrish Snead Franklin Simpson, PLC
This internship involves working with the attorneys at the Parrish Snead Franklin Simpson law firm. The firm specializes in a variety of areas such as business transactions, estate planning, civil litigation, personal injury, commercial real estate, and insurance defense. The internship will incorporate psychology through its requirements of extensive research ability and well-developed communication skills.
Duties
- Assisting with ongoing cases
- Helping with investigation
- Attending hearings, depositions, and trials
- Organizing and summarizing documents
- Drafting summaries and reports to clients regarding their case status
- Legal research
Pre-Requisites
- Must meet all UMW and Department of Psychological Science internship requirements.
- Required courses:
- PSYC 201 – Social Psychology
- PSYC 362 – Research Methods for Psychology
- Recommended courses:
- PSYC 242 – Psychology of Personality
- PSYC 346 – Forensic Psychology
Assessment
- 42 hours of work per credit hour (most interns do 3 credits with 126 hours of work)
- Grade is based on on-campus supervision, agency evaluation, reflective journal, and a final paper
