Prince William County Area Agency on Aging
Overview
The Prince William County Area Agency on Aging is one of more than 670 agencies in the National Association of Area Agencies on Aging. These agencies help to maintain the independence and quality of life for aging adults and their families as well as advocate, educate, coordinate, and implement programs and services. The Prince William County Area Agency on Aging serves adults, families, and caregivers in Prince William County, Manassas, and Manassas Park.
Duties
- Planning and implementing programs for the elderly
- Conducting surveys
- Interviewing clients and caregivers, assessing their needs, and assisting in care plan development
- Helping with educational programs (ex. giving speeches, preparing articles)
- Outreach to promote agency and community programs
- Designing and implementing agency research
Pre-Requisites
- Must meet all UMW and Department of Psychological Science internship requirements.
Required Courses
- PSYC 211 – Psychopathology or PSYC 201- Social Psychology
- PSYC 233 – Adult Development

Assessment
- 42 hours of work per credit hour (most interns do 3 credits with 126 hours of work)
- Grade is based on on-campus supervision, agency evaluation, reflective journal, and a professional development portfolio.
