Intern Opportunity (Fall 2013) — Fredericksburg Area Museum & Cultural Center

K-12 Education Intern

K-12 Education Intern will assist the Volunteer & Education Coordinator and the Director of Education
with reviewing and updating the pre and post material for three school tours. Responsibilities would also
include developing youth & family gallery activities sheets and assisting with tours and working on the
Museum’s new youth Activity Book and providing recommendations for reimagining the education space
in the Town Hall/Market House.

Responsibilities Include:
• Reviewing and editing pre and post material for FAMCC school tours.
• Creating activity sheets to go with the permanent galleries of the Museum
• Conducting gallery tours of the museum as needed
• Handle special education projects as assigned

Preferred Majors: Education, American History, Museum Studies, Museum Education, English,
Historic Preservation, and Anthropology.

Ideal candidates are junior to graduate level students with an interest Education and Museum Education
who are highly organized, with strong communication, research and writing skills. Candidate must be
able to multi-task and be able to problem-solve independently and collaborate with others. Candidates
must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel programs. Work hours are flexible to accommodate class
schedules.
