Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Student Association

Focused on connecting WGST majors to other students, faculty, and opportunities in the Fredericksburg area while also working to engage the community in WGST related topics and issues. WGST majors and non-majors are all welcome!

African Student Union

The African Student Union is a club at the University of Mary Washington that aims to create a community around the African continent so students of all background can gain a better understanding of the continent that is Africa.  We offer diverse opportunities and a platform where students can leave feeling like they belong.

Asian Student Association

The goal of the Asian Student Association of the University of Mary
Washington is to promote the appreciation and understanding of Asia
through social, educational, and cultural activities. The ASA consists
of members with Asian and non-Asian nationalities who wish to embrace
and share Asian and Pacific Islander culture.

Black Student Association

The purpose of the Black Student Association shall be to serve as a support mechanism while its primary goal is the unification of the black student population. As an organization, the Black Student Association’s goals are to create a forum for students of all races to learn about the cultures and history of African Americans; address the concerns of the African community; and serve as a political base to be utilized by the African American students at the University of Mary Washington.

Latino Student Association

¡Bienvenid@s! We’re the Latino Student Association, a multicultural student led organization routed in creating an educational atmosphere to better recognize Latinx and Hispanic history and identities. It’s our mission to explore and appreciate the great strides made by the Latinx and Hispanic communities by hosting cultural events and participating in service outreach. Although the majority of our events are coordinated by our student run e-board, nothing is possible without our members. We hope to see you at our next club meeting ¡Hasta pronto!

National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) at UMW

The mission of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) is to secure the political, educational, social, and economic equality of rights of ALL people in order to eliminate race-based discrimination and ensure the health and well-being of all persons.

Native American Student Association

PRISM is an education and social club that focuses on teaching about issues and information that pertains to gender and sexual minorities, as well as creating a safe space for the LGBTQ+ community at UMW. Anyone from the UMW community is welcome!

People for the Rights of Individuals of Sexual Minorities (PRISM)

The Native American Student Association is an all-inclusive club that brings awareness to people of indigenous descent and teaches the history of those who came before.

Students Empowering and Educating for Diversity (SEED)

SEED is dedicated to hosting and creating events and content tailored promoting diversity, inclusion, and social justice.

UMW Feminist Majority

A brand new club on campus that works with the Feminist Majority Foundation to push forward the message of feminism and expand equality daily!

UMW Planned Parenthood Generation Action

Planned Parenthood Generation Action is harnessing the power, energy, and enthusiasm of young people to fight for reproductive freedom and for fundamental justice for all. With our very own chapter on campus, we hope to be a major part of this fight for reproductive freedom, justice, and equality!

UMW Votes

The UMW Votes program supports students, faculty, and staff as they develop the skills, habits, and knowledge needed for a life of engaged citizenship. UMW Votes provides opportunities for student leadership in civic engagement and helps clarify the voter registration process for students, faculty, staff and our broader Fredericksburg community members.

Where Is The Line?

Where is the Line? Is an on-campus club dedicated to raising awareness of sexual assault and domestic violence on campus. According to the statistics, 1 in 4 collage-aged women have been sexually assaulted. We also strive to combat stereotypes relating to sexual assault and domestic violence through our annual events.

As a campus organization, we add to the awareness of all minority women, and also function as a support group that helps students feel comfortable on our campus. Throughout the academic year, we sponsor popular events such as the Step Show, and seek to increase the consciousness of our organization and the issues that we support.
