PRISM is open to anyone who wants to join, no matter their sexual/romantic orientation, gender identity, race, religion, ability status, etc.! We believe the best spaces are diverse spaces, so please join us in a meeting or at an event! To learn more visit their presence page!
Radical Student Union
We focus on helping disadvantaged communities by providing mutual aid, fundraising, and supporting those who need it. We are a UMW club that holds space for students on campus who have what are considered “radical” political, social, and humanitrian beliefs. This club started out as a place for such students to talk, however, we strongly believe in direct action. Our mission is to dismantle white supremacy on the campus of Mary Wash and build community between BIPOC and disadvantaged groups! Most people see the word “radical,” and get a very specific image in their head. We are here to tell you that “radical” can mean a lot of things. We are a pro Black, pro Black, pro LGBT, pro women, & pro liberation for ALL. If that makes us radical, then everyone should be radical. To learn more visit their presence page.
South Asian Association
The South Asian Association is a culture-based club at the University of Mary Washington. Our goal is to spread a better understanding of South Asian culture throughout our campus and community. We want to bring our diverse backgrounds together through many fun events and meetings throughout the school year. For more information visit their page on presence!
Students Educating and Empowering for Diversity
SEED stands for Students Educating and Empowering for Diversity. We are committed to hosting events that empower students of various religious, socioeconomic, racial/ethnic, sexual orientations, and disability statuses and identities. We are not like a traditional club that meets on a schedule, but a programming cohort that makes educational events for the entire campus body. One of our largest events, the Cross Cultural BBQ, also kicks off all multicultural events for the fall semester and lands on the first Thursday of classes. We also help host the Social Justice and Leadership Summit during the spring semester, which is an opportunity for students to apply different activism techniques to social justice causes they are passionate about. Other events are held throughout the year, ranging from round table discussions to lectures.
