Interested in a Bachelor of Arts in Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies?
The Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies (WGST) major explores the study of human experience through constructs such as femininity and masculinity as they intersect with issues of gender, class, race, sexual orientation, etc.
WGST is an interdisciplinary major requiring thirty-three (33) credits. The structure of the program allows students to craft the major around their specific interests in varying fields (English, History, Philosophy, Political Science, Psychology, Sociology, etc.). The interdisciplinary nature of the Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies major allows students to engage themselves more holistically into two majors at the same time if they want to double major. By crafting your own Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies major around other interests, it’s easy to fit both majors together along the academic path that you choose to take!
WGST also encourages students to participate in internships, which can be considered for credit in the major. The Fredericksburg region and its location midway between Washington DC and Richmond make it easy to intern in a variety of fields including health, government, education, business, journalism, law in public, private and non-profit sectors.
