At UMW Theatre, we believe the work we put on stage has the power to change the world.

Most programs teach you theatre. Ours trains you for a career in it. Our BFA is built around intensive, hands-on production work that builds a real portfolio, sharpens your craft, and gives you stories to tell in every audition room and interview.

Theatre has the power to change lives. We also know that belief only matters if you have the tools to be that change. You’ll graduate ready to work — and ready to lead.

If you are interested in a BFA at the University of Mary Washington Department of Theatre and Dance, please find your area of interest below to learn about the requirements and to submit materials.

To her right, another woman sits on a high stool, smiling; she has bright red braided hair and is wearing a black graphic t-shirt and camouflage pants. On the left, a third woman stands wearing glasses, a striped top under a deep green cardigan, and black leggings.
