Attention GISC & MSGA students:
ESRI has offered the department 10 free passes to the ESRI Federal User conference.
This is an annual conference ESRI hosts to highlight new capabilities related to their GIS products. The conference is attended primarily by government agencies and contractors who work with them. This represents an opportunity to meet with industry representatives and promote yourself to the various agencies, including ESRI. Bringing a resume is highly recommended. It is held at the Washington DC Convention Center; there is a pre-conference program and career fair on the Monday, Feb 6, followed by the main event Feb 7-8.
As there are only 10 passes available, we must come up with a selection criterion. If you’re interested, please send an email to Dr. Rizzo, with the subject line GIS Fed User Conference, stating what program you are in (GISC or MSGA), when you plan to graduate, and why you feel you should be selected. The Department of Geography will be able to reimburse* you for VRE travel to and from the conference, up to $25 per day of attendance (i.e., a day-pass on the VRE). DEADLINE: Jan 23, 11:59 pm!
If more than 10 students apply to attend, the department can reimburse* cost of attending: $129 – so please apply!
Students should assume they will be responsible for expenses such as meals or lodging if you choose to stay overnight.

From ESRI: The experience includes a pre-conference program and career fair on Monday, February 6 and continues with the Federal GIS Conference on February 7-8, 2023 in Washington DC.
