Internships
Internships are an excellent way to get experience in a particular field. They can be completed through UMW for academic credit, or not. Geography and Geospatial Analysis Majors are encouraged to find internships, especially for their junior or senior years. Internships allow students to further develop skills and knowledge in environmental issues, urban planning, image analysis, cartography, geographic information systems, and other sub-fields.
- Internships taken for academic credit do count toward the Beyond the Classroom/Experiential Learning requirement
- Internships do not count toward the Geography or Geospatial Analysis Majors
- A 3-credit internship can be used as the capstone for the GIS Certificate (GISC 495)
- To register for an internship, use the Center for Career and Professional Development page.
