Student Scholarships & Volunteer Positions

The 51st IMCL Conference, titled Making Cities Healthy for All, will take place on June 8-12, 2014 in Portland, Oregon. A limited number of Student Scholarships for Ph.D. students, and Volunteer Positions for Graduate students are available. Both positions waive the student registration fee.  This Conference will be a landmark event, with an unprecedented gathering of world renowned experts in planning, urban design, public health, social sciences, and allied fields. Please see the website for more details - http://www.livablecities.org/conferences/51st-imcl-conference Scholarships waive the registration fee. They do not offer funds towards expenses. Volunteers can attend all the sessions they choose. Field School in Preservation Practices: Using Easements to Protect Historic Properties

Join Historic New England’s preservation experts for an in-depth practicum designed for historic preservation students and professionals. Learn how to develop, use, and monitor preservation easement restrictions to protect historic properties in perpetuity, preserving exterior, interior, and other aspects of the property. Lectures cover the legal and structural requirements of preservation restriction agreements, and explain how Historic New England's Stewardship Easement Program protects nearly 100 privately owned properties across the region, including monitoring procedures for annual inspection of easement-protected properties. Why We Are Here: Connections in Preservation

The Department of Historic Preservation presents a lecture by Tracy Hadden Loh. Born and raised in D.C., Tracy has long been interested in urban infrastructure and federal policy. With a background in urban studies and computational math, Tracy is a research manager at Rails-to-Trails Conservancy and director of the National Transportation Alternatives Clearinghouse.
