The City of Roanoke is seeking a GIS Specialist to serve in the Department of Parks and Recreation. This position manages the Parks and Recreation asset management system. Using geographic location and mapping capabilities, this position is responsible for coordinating and documenting all infrastructure asset inventories. Infrastructure assets are defined as but not limited to park shelters, paved trails, natural surface trails, sidewalks, playgrounds, athletic fields, park mowing locations, and various other park amenities. The position will also be responsible for preparing and providing budgetary information, graphs, charts, and maps, as well as train staff on the use of the system. The position will also collaborate in the development of ArcGIS StoryMaps in an effort to better engage and inform residents about the services provided by the Department. Associates degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or three years GIS training and experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
