Rising senior Elsa Bamgartner, majoring in Psychological Science, spent last academic year researching the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the emotional and social well-being of college students with her faculty mentor Dr. Chris McBride. In May, Elsa presented the results of her research virtually at the Association for Psychological Science national conference. Subsequently, Elsa earned a fully paid summer internship at the University of Pennsylvania. This competitive internship is sponsored by The Leadership Alliance (theleadershipalliance.org) and is allowing Elsa to move toward her ultimate goal of earning a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology.
I am working on the Philly Vax Sweepstakes, a mega-study sponsored by both the Behavior Change for Good Initiative and the City of Philadelphia. The aim of the study is to motivate COVID-19 vaccination rates by initiating a series of three citywide drawings where Philadelphia residents can win $50,000, $5,000 or $1,000 if they get their vaccine. My job includes completing literature reviews, analyzing data of increased vaccination rates from the citywide drawings, and contacting winners.
