2016 David W. Wright Scholarship

The National Society for the Preservation of Covered Bridges (NSPCB) is now accepting applications for the 2016 David W. Wright Scholarship. David W. Wright was the NSPCB president from 1986 until 2013. Mr. Wright strongly advocated the preservation of covered bridges with historic integrity in mind.

The scholarship is to encourage students to pursue degrees leading to careers in bridge preservation, repair, and/or restoration. Awards may be offered for up to $1000 each. Applicants must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate historic preservation program in an accredited institution, such as UMW. Applicants who aren’t enrolled in a historic preservation program but can show that they are still interested in historic bridge preservation are also able to apply.

All applications must be received in full by April 15, 2016 by mail or an email attachment. Applicants will hear back by May and winners will receive their awards in July.
