Honors, IS, Internships
The Department of English and Linguistics has established guidelines for outstanding students in the department’s majors who hope to graduate with Departmental Honors. You can read more about the criteria and process here.
As a department, we are committed to supporting active research by undergraduates, and one of the primary ways that is achieved is through advanced, semester-long Individual Studies. Guidelines for proposing an Individual Study under the guidance of a professor are here.
A second form of experiential learning that moves beyond the traditional classroom is participation in an internship. If an internship develops skills and knowledge connected to the department’s disciplines, it may earn ENLI credit. See the guidelines for the process of having an internship approved in ENLI here.
For ideas, see the list of current and past individual studies and internships.
