International Education Week

From September 16th-21st, the Center for International Education at UMW is having their 2nd Annual International Education Week. The week consist of daily events around campus that will conclude with the Education Abroad Fair on Saturday, September 21st. The Education Abroad fair will be on the fourth floor of Lee from 9:30- 12:30 pm and will provide student an opportunity to learn about the various study abroad programs the university offers. In Summer 2015, Professor Smith will be teaching Historic Preservation 470 in Paris, France again. This trip will be Professor Smith's third time teaching Hisp 470 in Paris and is a great opportunity for students. The class will give students an opportunity to explore Paris beyond its major tourist attractions and learn more about preservation and planning. Students do not need to know French for this course because it is taught in English, but there is an option to take French courses there. Preservation Symposium: Preserving the 18th Century in the 21st

On Saturday, November 16, Gunston Hall will be hosting a symposium  focusing on historic structures and modern preservation efforts. Those who attend this conference will be able to hear from numerous historians, architects, and preservation professionals. During the symposium, there will be presentations made by Carl Lounsbury (Colonial Williamsburg), Judy Peterson (Marblehead Architecture Heritage), Sarah D. Pope (Menokin), Doug Harnsberger (Salubria), and Mark Wenger (MCWB). Gunston Hall will also be offering interested students scholarships to attend the symposium. Interested in attending? Free Admission to Virginia’s Historic Houses

Are you looking for something to do this weekend? In celebration of Virginia's "Year of the Historic House", a bunch of historic house museum in Virginia  will be open for free on September 14 and 15. National Trust Conference 2013: Indianapolis

The National Trust Conference this year will be in Indianapolis in late October 2013. This event is a great chance for upperclassmen to see current projects and research in Historic Preservation, and to meet some preservationists (and potential employers). Interested in attending?
