Chemical Outreach

Chemistry Outreach is a course designed to expose students to opportunities for sharing their chemical knowledge with members of the local community or other UMW groups.  Teachers know that they learn as much as their students through explaining concepts to others.  This experience will help students understand chemical/scientific principles through developing lessons and hands-on experiences for other individuals.   In addition, the students will improve their critical thinking skills, sharpen literature search skills, and hone their scientific communication, both oral and written.   Activities in which students have participated include enrichment programs at local elementary or middle schools, with the James Farmer program, and the PASS program.  Experimental learning credit can earned through this course.  A copy of the syllabus and contract can be found at these links syllabus and contract.
