To be admitted to the Bachelor of Liberal Studies Degree program, applicants must satisfy at least one of the listed qualifications and must demonstrate their ability to succeed in college level coursework by earning a minimum grade point average of 2.5 (on a 4.0 scale) in their previous college coursework. Students interested in completing their Bachelor’s degree in any of the majors offered in the College of Arts and Sciences, in the BLS Leadership and Management major, or other special majors are encouraged to apply.
Students who have registered for classes in the BA/BS program at UMW within the past calendar year and have completed more than 30 credit hours are not eligible to enroll in the BLS degree program.
No student will be admitted into the BLS degree program who does not meet the GPA, credit, or other admission criteria.
Who can be admitted as a BLS student?
Admission to the BLS degree program is intended for non-traditional students.
To qualify for the BLS Adult Degree Completion program, you must meet at least one of the following characteristics:
- graduated from high school six or more years ago
- have legal dependents other than a spouse
- are financially self-supporting
- have significant life or professional experiences that translate into academic knowledge that can contribute to the completion of the Bachelor’s degree.
