Students Attend Wood Window Workshop

Students in Professor Spencer’s HISP 461, Laboratory in Building Forensics class attended a workshop at Stratford Hall on November 15, 2013, for wood window preservation. Guided by Stratford Hall Architectural Conservationist Phil Marks, and Benjamin Curran, a Faculty Instructor in Preservation Carpentry with the Historic Preservation Program at Edgecombe Community College, students preserved four wood window sashes from the ca. 1930s crypt structure at Stratford Hall. The workshop encompassed everything from removing the windows sensitively, to stripping the paint, epoxy repair, Dutchman repair, and ultimately re-glazing. The following students attended the workshop: Garrett Hulfish, Carol Vinatieri, Emily Anderson, Elizabeth Rival, Amber Edmonds and Morgan Graff.
