To be admitted to the Bachelor of Liberal Studies Degree program, applicants must satisfy at least one of the listed qualifications and must demonstrate their ability to succeed in college level coursework by earning a minimum grade point average of 2.5/4.0 in their previous college coursework. Students interested in completing their Bachelor’s degree in any of the majors offered in the College of Arts and Sciences, in the BLS Leadership and Management major, or other special majors are encouraged to apply.
B.A. or B.S. students, who would have qualified for the BLS program at the time of admittance, who have earned less than 30 credit hours at UMW, and who have been in attendance less than one year, may request to transfer into the BLS program by reapplying to Admissions. Provided they meet the requirements for the BLS program at the time of reapplication.
No student will be admitted into the BLS degree program who does not meet the GPA, credit, or other admission criteria.
Who can be admitted as a BLS student?
Admission to the BLS degree program is restricted to non-traditional students.
To qualify for the BLS Adult Degree Completion program, you must satisfy at least one of the following characteristics:
- graduated from high school six or more years ago
- be a veteran or active-duty member of the U.S. armed services
- be married
- have legal dependents other than a spouse
- be financially self-supporting
