Professor Rao Presents at Conference

Dr. Rao gave two presentations at the National Association of Communication Centers conference at Arizona State University-West- in April. The first was on “Assessment Best Practices” and the second was on “Negotiating Identity and Place at Institutions Without Communication Majors.”

Communication Workshop for High School Students

Professors Anand Rao and Tim O’Donnell recently hosted a workshop for 20 local high school students, which included instruction on effective speaking, delivery skills, handling communication apprehension, and advocacy. The students also participated in a town hall debate.  Student consultants from the Speaking Center provided useful feedback for the speakers.

Speaking Center Earns Rare Certification

Congratulations to Dr. Rao and the student staff of the Speak Center! Its consultant training program was recently certified by the National Association of Communication Centers and is only the eleventh center in the country (and the second in Virginia) to be certified.  Great job!
