Music Education Licensure
Students who wish to certify to teach Music earn a B.A. with a music major together with a licensure in PreK-12 Education. The following additions and modifications apply:
INSTRUMENTAL EMPHASIS
Students licensing in Instrumental Music preK-12 must fulfill the requirements of the music major as well as the following specific course requirements:
- MUHL 265 Jazz Improvisation Workshop
- MUPR 347 Conducting
- MUPR 349 Conducting Practicum
- MUTH 483 Scoring and Arranging
- three additional credits of ensemble courses (must be some combination of MUPR 280, 282, and/or 285)
- MUPR 214, MUPR 223, MUPR 225 and MUPR 235)

CHORAL/VOCAL EMPHASIS
Students licensing in Vocal/Choral Music preK-12 must fulfill the requirements of the music major as well as the following specific requirements:
- MUPR 265 Jazz Improvisation Workshop
- MUPR 347 Conducting
- MUPR 349 Conducting Practicum
- MUTH 483 Scoring and Arranging,
- three additional credits of ensemble courses (must be some combination of MUPR 250 and/or 252
- three additional credits of secondary performance courses specified by a Music Department advisor (to include at least MUPR 215 or MUPR 261)
