New Publications and Honors in Creative Writing

Allison Seay Wins Fellowship

Allison Seay, UMW alumna and instructor, was just named as a recipient of  a fellowship in Creative Writing: Poetry from the National Endowment for the Arts.  Congratulations on this prestigious award!

ELC Faculty Receive Sabbatical and Jepson Awards

Five ELC faculty members recently were awarded time to pursue larger professional research projects in the 2013-2014 academic year.  Professors Terry Kennedy, Paul Fallon, Maya Mathur, and Mara Scanlon  are the recipients of sabbatical leaves.  Additionally, Professor Zach Whalen received a UMW Jepson Fellowship.  Congratulations to all!

A Woman of Distinction

Professor Emerson was named one of seven “Women of Distinction” of 2012 by the Girl Scouts of the Commonwealth of Virginia,  an award based on one’s ability to serve as examples of courage, confidence and character.  Professor Emerson’s award  focused on her accomplishments in culture and communication.  Move over, Pulitzer.  Congratulations, Professor Emerson!
