Requirements for the Professional Writing Minor
Effective Fall 2024, the UMW English & Linguistics department offers a professional writing minor.
The Professional Writing minor provides students with the opportunity to develop their written communication skills. The minor offers an extended study of writing processes, genres, styles, and purposes. Coursework helps students cultivate their understanding of different rhetorical situations and audiences through focused analysis and creation of diverse texts, including research reports, technical documents, and multimodal projects. This minor can complement any major and prepares students for various academic, professional, and public writing contexts.
Requirements include two different ENGL 202 topics courses and 9 credits of the following with at least three courses at the 300-level or higher
