Volunteer Opportunity at the Valentine Richmond History Center

Volunteer Opportunity: Help to revamp our audio-visual collection!

DATE: Tuesday, November 5, 2013

TIME: 11:00 am – 5:00 pm

LOCATION: James Branch Cabell Library, Second Floor, Multipurpose room (Virginia Commonwealth University Monroe Park campus) http://www.library.vcu.edu/jbc/maps/jbcfl2.html

Help to inventory and rehouse the Valentine Richmond History Center’s audiovisual collection! Volunteers will work alongside professional moving image archivists to improve physical storage of and cataloging data for the History Center’s film, video and audio recordings. Held as part of the annual conference of the Association of Moving Image Archivists, this workshop will teach archiving skills through hands-on practice. No experience is necessary!

Please join us in this new effort to preserve and improve access to the History Center’s audio-visual collection. Short educational presentations will be part of the day. Refreshments will be served.

Space is limited, so please contact Meg Hughes (mhughes@richmondhistorycenter.com) if you would like to participate or have questions. Participants will receive final details closer to the workshop date.
