This video is my rhetorical analysis presentation, where I analyze a 2013 Mom’s Demand Action Ad. Using Jolliffe’s rhetorical framework, I examine the ad’s rhetorical situation, appeals, and surface features. I determine that the ad’s rhetoric is very effective for its chosen audience.

Gone Phishing: A Digital Safety Project

The purpose of our class project is dedicated to enlightening our audience on Digital Marketing and Media Literacy. We broke down our overall topic into subtopics which we then recorded podcast episodes going in-depth into each subtopic and an Instagram page highlighting features of the episodes and creating posts reminding people of when each podcast airs. Our subtopics included discussing the downsides and dangers of Digital Marketing, how to identify hidden or explicit visual rhetoric, promoting digital safety, and how be aware of different advertising tactics.

The Rhetoric of Fast Fashion

Sexuality in Children’s Media: How Queerness is Portrayed in She-Ra

In this presentation, I use the children’s TV show She-Ra and the Princess of Power to examine how queer representation has changed in children’s media in recent years. Using She-Ra, I concluded that recent children’s media has mostly abandoned the harmful stereotypes it used to present.
