Virginia Space Grant Consortium’s Commonwealth STEM Industry Internship Program (CSIIP)

Application Deadline: First come, first served

The Virginia Space Grant Consortium’s Commonwealth STEM Industry Internship Program (CSIIP) is on a mission to provide more paid internship opportunities to as many students as possible. In case you are not familiar with our program, CSIIP maintains a database of STEM students from colleges and universities all over the state. The CSIIP database is accessible to over 160 employers interested in offering paid internships to Virginia students. They require a GPA of at least 2.7, two letters of recommendation, an unofficial transcript and a writing sample. This creates the perfect package of information for employers to start the selection process for internships. There are no costs to utilize our services for neither the student, nor the employer.  Their goal is to offer Virginia students opportunities to hone their STEM skills with STEM companies in Virginia with the ultimate goal of keeping STEM jobs in Virginia.  Because CSIIP is funded by the Commonwealth, participating students are recognized by the Governor with a signed certificate of completion. This past summer, there was a high demand for students in mechanical and electrical engineering, cybersecurity and information technology.  It is expected to see similar desires for summer 2017.  They also have companies that hire interns to work part-time in the fall and spring semesters as well so please encourage students to apply to the CSIIP program as soon as possible.  They mentioned high-demand majors, however they are looking for all STEM majors for a multitude of companies and positions.
