CEE award applications 2024

The Center of Economic Education has two new award applications open for this year:

Alfred P. Sloan Foundation Teaching Champion Award

CEE honors excellence in economic education with the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation Teaching Champion Award, recognizing three exceptional high school educators from the New York Metropolitan area. Open to all high school teachers in the NY metro area, this award acknowledges effective delivery of economic education, instilling a practical understanding in students for informed and responsible decision-making.

  • $2,500 for your school’s economic education
  • Free entry to CEE’s 63rd Conference in Fall 2024
  • Special recognition at Visionary Awards Benefit in NYC on April 24th, 2024.

Application Deadline: Sunday, February 18th, 2024, 11:59 p.m.

John Morton Excellence in Economic Education Award

It’s time to apply or nominate someone for the John Morton Excellence in the Teaching of Economics Awards! This prestigious award honors K-12 teachers of any subject who use exemplary teaching techniques who improve their students’ economic understanding, in and out of the classroom. Each year CEE awards one teacher in each of the following grade bands:

  • Elementary School (Grades K-5)
  • Middle/Junior High School (Grades 6-8)
  • High School (Grades 9-12)

 

Each winner will receive:

  • $1,000 cash prize
  • An opportunity to co-facilitate a session at CEE’s 63rd Financial Literacy & Economic Education Conference on September 27-28, 2024 in Cleveland, Ohio (all-expenses paid for registration, travel, and accommodations)
  • An opportunity to have their lessons highlighted on CEE’s EconEdLink
  • Recognition on the CEE website and in CEE’s EconEdLink November newsletter
  • A plaque certifying this award

 

Teachers can apply themselves or be nominated for this award by a teaching colleague, department chair, principal, superintendent, or CEE state affiliate (state council or university-based center for economic education).

Eligibility: K-12 teachers employed in a public, private or parochial school during the 2023-24 school year that incorporate economic content into their instruction in innovative ways
