History of Bankruptcy in the United States

On November 17th from 6 PM – 7 PM in the Digital Auditorium (HCC 136), Dr. Hansen will be providing a presentation on the Economic History of Bankruptcy in the United States.

This presentation is inspired by Bankrupt in America: A History of Debtors, Their Creditors, and the Law in the Twentieth Century (2020), which Dr. Hansen co-authored with Professor Mary Eschelbach Hansen. The presentation will focus on bankruptcy starting with the Bankruptcy Act of 1898 until the passing of a bankruptcy reform act in 2005.
