Predental Clinical Experiences
Predental students should naturally focus on clinical activities that expose the student to the real-world work of dentists. Predental students should seek out opportunities anywhere denstists practice dentistry. Two suggestions are:
- Lloyd Moss Free Clinic. Fredericksburg. (540) 741-1061.
- Volunteering at the Moss Free Clinic is a great way to combine clinical work with community service. You will likely get direct access to patients. Moreover, you might get some limited exposure to the dentist’s work.
- To volunteer at the dental clinic, call (540) 741- 2448.
- Let them know you are an UMW predent student
- American Dentists Care Foundation Mission of Mercy.
- Working in a Private Dental Office.
- Working in a private dental office is the best way to get the type of clinical dental experience dental schools are looking for. It is important the experience be arranged on your own, with your work being an expression of your dedication and commitment. You are encouraged to contact the office of a dentist or dental group and inquire about opportunities. Many students visit the dentist’s office in person to make the initial contact, and you can obtain a valuable letter of introduction from Professor O’Dell to help with the process. If interested in obtaining letter, make an appointment with Professor O’Dell.
