disAbility Resource Center – Developmental Disabilities Case Manager Intern
The disAbility Resource Center assists people with disabilities to live as independently as possible by providing them, those who support them, and the community with information, education, and resources.  The Developmental Disabilities Case Manager works with individuals and helps develop plans of success on a case by case basis


  • Assisting the Developmental Disabilities case manager
  • Helping Families to find resources and services
  • Inputting information into computer files
  • Accompanying the case manager on quarterly visits
  • Handling any crisis that might arise with an individual or family


Must meet all UMW and Department of Psychological Science internship requirements.

Required courses:

  • PSYC 311 – Abnormal Psychology or PSYC 320 – Psychology of Exceptional Children and Youth
  • PSYC 331 – Developmental Psychology: The Infant and Child or PSYC 332 – Developmental Psychology: The Adolescent and Adult

Recommended course:

  • PSYC 315 – Foundations of Clinical Psychology
  • SOCG 332 – Introduction to Social Welfare


  • 42 hours of work per credit hour (most interns do 3 credits with 126 hours of work)
  • Grade is based on on-campus supervision, agency evaluation, reflective journal, and a final paper
