Peyton Dunow- Co-president
Hi! My name is Peyton Dunow and I am one of Psi Chi’s co-presidents. I am a senior majoring in psychology with a minor in security and conflict studies. I am originally from Woodbridge, Virginia, but my parents currently live in London. This gives me the opportunity to travel and live overseas when we’re not in school; so far I have been to 15 countries. I am on the volleyball team here at UMW so athletics are a big part of my life. Along with volleyball, I enjoy hiking, paddleboarding, and reading.
Haley Turczynski- Co-president
Hi, my name is Haley Turczynski and I am a Co-President of Psi Chi! I am a senior Psychology major with a minor in Neuroscience and I hope to work in student affairs after I graduate. I am from Newport News, VA and I have a turtle named Connie. I also play on the Ultimate Frisbee team here at UMW.
Secretary – Maddox Robinson
Hello! I’m Maddox Robinson, I use they/them pronouns, and I’m this year’s secretary for Psi Chi! I’m from Suffolk, VA, and I’m a senior. I’m double majoring in psychology and philosophy with a minor in linguistics. I aspire to be the queer psychiatrist I would have benefited from in my own life, and I’m passionate about promoting awareness and understanding of queer and LBGT+ issues, particularly those that pertain to lesbians and non-binary people.
In my spare time, I enjoy reading and having more books than I strictly need, though I prefer paperbacks since they take up less space. I also have three cats back home; one is very lazy and nicknamed “Fatty Bread Loaf,” one is a fluffy little angel who’s more fur than cat, and one is a proper menace who loves to scream.
Treasurer – Brighton Payne
Hi! My name is Brighton Payne. I am a senior Psychology major and Neuroscience minor. My hometown is Richmond, VA. I have a schnoodle (schnauzer and poodle mix) named Mia who turned FOURTEEN this year. Along with being treasurer for Psi Chi, I am also a Psych Rep. I am especially interested in the brain as it relates to neurodegenerative disorders, traumatic brain injuries, and the concept of free will (if you’re curious, I am always happy to discuss my perspective on this). I look forward to serving as treasurer for Psi Chi this year!
Social Media Chair – Meryl Menezes
Hi everyone! My name is Meryl Menezes and I’m excited to serve as Psi Chi’s Social Media Chair for the 2019-2020 academic year! I’m a senior majoring in psychology with a minor in Spanish. My hometown is McLean, Virginia. In my free time, I enjoy volunteering, drawing, and spending time with family and friends. This year, I am serving as a co-leader for COAR’s Bragg Hill tutoring program. In the future, I hope to attend graduate school and work as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.
