Scholarly Achievements:

Matt Tarpey is a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science and International Affairs. Previously, he was a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of Government and the Public Policy Program at the College of William & Mary. He completed his Ph.D. work in the Department of Political Science at the University of Pittsburgh and his undergraduate work in political science and economics at the College of Charleston. he won a university-wide award for the best graduate student instructor based on nominations from students. His research focuses on public opinion, elections, and representation in the American context. Recently he published a co-authored a paper in the journal PS: Politics & Political Science that studied support for President Trump in the 2016 primary elections. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with friends and playing tennis.
