BRIDGESTRAVAGANZA!

Are you a bridge enthusiast? Do you love adventure? Professors Smith and Sanford are leading an adventure that will take you to the most magnificent bridges in Fredericksburg. Not only will it involve conversation about awesome architecture, but it also involves a trip to Carl’s. HFFI Open House

HFFI is having an Open House this Sunday, February 23rd, from 1:00 - 4:00 pm. There will be a presentation about Lafayette Blvd's 20th-century history (in-town portion) at 2:00 pm and new exhibits done by UMW students/ graduates will be on display. Watch and Discuss Monuments Men

Not since Indiana Jones has a movie been more about historic preservationists vs. the Nazis  than Monuments Men. On February 16th, the Historic Preservation Department is going to see Monuments Men at the Regal Theatre on Route 3 at a to be determined time. The movie will be free for all historic preservation majors, but transportation and snacks will not be provided. A sign up sheet will be located in the department and seats are limited. Explore Landscape Preservation in Malta

This summer, the Landscape Institute at Boston Architectural College is offering an 8 week online course on preparing a Cultural Landscape Report, as part of its Landscape Preservation curriculum. One of the highlights of the course is a two week field experience at Villa Bologna in Malta, an eighteenth century villa. The course is open to undergraduate or graduate students, as well to professionals seeking CEUs or certificate credit. (AIA, ASLA, RIBA, APLD). This course is offered in partnership with BAC's Preservation Studies Program, which will be running a concurrent course in Architectural Materials Conservation.
