1519-1522: The First Circumnavigation of Earth
Lieutenant Colonel SPMC Miguel Hernández Suárez-Llanos is the Spanish liaison officer at Marine Corps Base Quantico. He will give a presentation on Magellan´s expedition and the First circumnavigation of Earth on the 500th anniversary of the survivors’ return to Spain. This presentation is about 50 minutes long and includes some geopolitical background, information about previous expeditions and how Magellan prepared, a description of the voyage and return to Spain, and discussion of the consequences of the journey.
