Nigel Haarstad

Dr. Nigel Haarstad is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Communication. His background is in risk communication and disinformation in digital spaces. In the realm of risk communication, he has collaborated with agencies such as the USGS and various California state offices, aiming to improve communication around earthquakes and potential real-time warnings. More recently, he worked as a Computational Disinformation Analyst at an Austin, Texas startup, applying communication scholarship and cutting edge digital tools to track Russian disinformation operations as well as home-grown extremists.
