Requirements for the Completion of a BSN Degree

The information on this page is for registered nurses who have an AAS in Nursing from a community college and are completing their BSN at UMW.

Students will receive 41 credits for having gained licensure as a registered nurse through either a community college or an accredited hospital diploma program.

Students may transfer a total of 90 credits. Students will transfer general education and prerequisite course credits from another accredited college or university.  The BSN Completion Program consists of 30 credits which must be taken at UMW.

A cumulative GPA of 2.00 on all UMW work is required.  Students planning to continue to graduate nursing education are advised to aim for a 3.0 GPA or higher. The BSN degree credits are distributed in the following categories:
