Hi everyone! My name is Meghan Turney and I am one of the co-president of Psi Chi for the 2016-2017 academic year at Mary Washington! Along with being a psychology major I am also minoring in business administration. I am from Maryland, but was born and raised in New Jersey with my three siblings. I am the captain of the UMW Women’s Soccer team playing as an outside defender. As I begin my senior year, I have decided to apply to graduate school in order to pursue my PhD in clinical psychology.

Co-President: Maryfay Jackson

My name is Maryfay Jackson and I am a senior serving as co-president of Psi Chi for the 2016-2017 academic year with Meghan Turney. On top of psychology I am also a minor in computer science, which is an odd combination. I am from northern Virginia and also play on the women’s soccer here at the university. After graduation I am looking to go into the government and also attend grad school. Aside from all of that, I like to hang out with my friends and family and also read a lot.

Secretary: Jessie Verive

My name is Jessie Verive and I am a senior this year as well as the Secretary for Psi Chi. Last year I was a double major in Psychology and philosophy, but I decided to drop Philosophy when I realized I wanted to earn my PhD in Clinical Psychology. My main interest in the field of Psychology is trauma, especially combat-related PTSD, which is why I am currently searching for a graduate program that would enable me to work with veterans and the VA. In my free time I ride and pamper my horse Dixie and go climbing at Peak Experiences with my dad.

Treasurer: Danielle Niepokoj

Hi, my name is Danielle Niepokoj, I am serving as the Psi Chi treasurer this year. I am a psychology major with a math minor. I am interested in going to graduate school for quantitative psychology. As well as being treasurer, I am also a resident assistant on campus and work as a research assistant.

Hi! My name is Alexanna Hengy, I am a senior and serving as your Psi Chi Historian for the 2016-2017 academic year. I work for Empowerhouse running a support group for 9-12 year olds from domestic violence households. I plan on going on to graduate school and a career working with at risk children, especially those that have witnessed abuse or been abused themselves. I’m a member of student senate, Middle Eastern Dance Club, and plan on joining more dance clubs this year as well as becoming more involved with the Outdoors Club. I also love animals, art, reading, and yoga. I’m very friendly so if you have any questions don’t hesitate to approach me!

Fundraising Chair: Madison Combs

Hi! My name is Madison Combs, I am a senior psychology major and serving as the Psi Chi Fundraising Chair for the 2016-2017 academic year. I am originally from Charlottesville Virginia. One of my favorite things to do in my spare time is to exercise. I also enjoy baking! I decided to study psychology because I was interested in learning about behavior and the mind in general. I am most intrigued by developmental psychology and hope to continue to gain more knowledge in this subject. I have three siblings and two dogs who I love very much!
