John_Leckey Cara_LeckeyJohn Leckey and Cara (Campbell) Leckey have been selected as our outstanding alumni for the 2014 edition of the physics newsletter. John graduated with bachelor degrees in physics and chemistry, and Cara graduated with a bachelor’s degree in physics, both in 2006. They pursued graduate degrees in physics at the College of William and Mary earning masters in 2008 and doctorates in 2011. John is an expert in nuclear physics and Cara expertise is in ultrasonic physics.

For the past three years John has worked at the Thomas Jefferson National Laboratory with responsibilities of the design and use of extremely sensitive nuclear detection systems. Cara joined NASA Langley Research Center in 2010 and contributed to NASA non-destructive testing program. Both have been very productive professionally with nearly fifty publications and invited or contributed presentations between them. Needless to say, we are very proud of John and Cara’s accomplishments and delighted we had a role in their development. Best wishes to them as their careers continue to unfold.
