This plan is designed for students in a Virginia Community College System (VCCS) nursing program who intend to transfer to the BSN Completion Program at UMW. The concurrent enrollment plan offers two benefits to the student:
- While in the community college nursing program, these students can get a head-start on the BSN coursework by taking the three BSN liberal arts courses at UMW during the summer (while in the community college RN program).
- These students will be guaranteed admission to our BSN Completion Program if their GPA in the community college nursing program is 3.0 or greater, they graduate from the community college with an AAS in Nursing degree, and they obtain their RN license after graduating from the community college.
After graduating from the community college nursing program and obtaining an RN license, the student will transfer to the BSN-C Program and complete the seven NURS courses. For details about the BSN-C Program, please click here.

UMW and the VCCS recognize the need for RNs to earn baccalaureate degrees in nursing through an education system which promotes seamless academic progression. This agreement permits VCCS nursing students to be concurrently enrolled in the BSN Completion Program while completing their Associate of Applied Science degree in nursing (AAS-N).
