University of Mary Washington Guitar Ensemble

The UMW Guitar Ensemble introduced in the Spring of 2011 is a welcome addition to our outstanding performance ensembles.  The ensemble is open to all students attending The University of Mary Washington who desire the opportunity to explore the challenging and rewarding experience of a performing in a guitar ensemble.  The ensemble’s repertoire includes a vast array of works from traditional literature as well as contemporary works by jazz and pop composers and arrangers.  Ensemble members receive instruction in technical, historical, improvisation, analytical and musicianship skills required to interpret and perform period literature. 

The UMW Guitar Ensemble performs one or two major concerts each semester and it’s members are available to perform various chamber performances on and off campus.

The Guitar Ensemble is open to all students by audition.
