The UMW chamber music program offers students the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of small group settings. Students that participate in small chamber groups dramatically increase their performance skills. They are able to evaluate the effectiveness of their own work and attain a greater understanding of working with others to reach a common goal. Musicians also gain knowledge of applied theory and the historical perspective of the music they perform. Throughout the year, recitals, master classes, and performances of new works are programmed. UMW hosts an annual Chamber Music Festival in the Spring, featuring students, faculty, and guest artists.
