Summer Internship Opportunity, Virginia Association of Museums

The Virginia Association of Museums is proud to announce a paid summer internship opportunity. During this internship, our selected candidate will work closely with our Assistant Director and Communications Director to help manage VAM’s successful Virginia’s Top Ten Endangered Artifacts program. Duties will include:

  •   Outreach to Virginia and Washington, DC museums to encourage them to nominate an artifact
  •   Working with museums who have nominated an artifact, to give them information and resources on how to make the most of their nomination
  •   Preparing press releases and other informational material about the program
  •   Researching and maintaining press clippings list

    Requirements:

    The successful candidate should be a rising junior or senior who is interested in pursuing a career in museums, or marketing or public relations, and who will be in Richmond, Virginia for summer 2014.

    Dates:

    This internship runs from June 1 through August 15, 2014 and will require approximately 20 hours of work each week. Work times are flexible, but will be between the hours of 9‐5, Monday through Friday.

    Compensation:

    VAM will be able to provide a $1,000 stipend to the selected intern for the summer. VAM will also work with the intern to provide proof of work for internship credit, should the student want such credit.
