SPECIAL MAJORS

The University of Mary Washington provides the opportunity for students to develop a Special Major if the existing programs do not meet academic interests. Special Majors proposals must be interdisciplinary, combining courses from at least two separate academic disciplines.  Students interested in developing a Special Major work in close collaboration with a faculty mentor who helps to plan the proposed curriculum and serves as the student’s academic advisor for the major.  Depending on the student’s degree program, the procedures for developing a Special Major follow differing steps.
