The following majors, minors, certificates, and courses of study are available at the University of Mary Washington. The list includes all programs approved as of the fall 2011 semester.
Links below go to the Academic Department sites for each of these disciplines. See the Academic Catalog for further descriptions of the programs listed below.
Students may also request to pursue a special major, an interdisciplinary program approved on a case by case basis. BA/BS students and BLS students follow different procedures for the approval of a special major. Information about these procedures is available below, following the list of special majors.
The University also offers a number of graduate programs in Business and Education.
SPECIAL MAJORS
The University of Mary Washington provides the opportunity for students to develop a Special Major if the existing programs do not meet academic interests. Special Majors proposals must be interdisciplinary, combining courses from at least two separate academic disciplines. Students interested in developing a Special Major work in close collaboration with a faculty mentor who helps to plan the proposed curriculum and serves as the student’s academic advisor for the major. Depending on the student’s degree program, the procedures for developing a Special Major follow differing steps.
