Book Prize Winner: Jeffrey Chusid

On October 22, 2012 the Historic Preservation department will be hosting the winner of the 2012 Book Prize Jeffrey Chusid. Mr Chusid is an architect and associate professor for the Historic Preservation program at Cornell University. His many accomplishment over the years include planning and designing cultural landscapes and material conservation projects around the world,  being a coordinator for DOCOMOMO, curating exhibits on modern architecture and being an editor for the Journal of Architectural Education. Chusid's book Saving Wright: The Freeman House and the Preservation of Meaning, Materials, and Modernity is a case study of Frank Lloyd Wrights's Freeman House in Los Angeles, CA. In it he tells the story of the house, the occupants and the efforts that have been made to preserve its integrity. 2012 HISP Ice Cream Social

Welcome back UMW students! Classes are in full swing, students are running around greeting friends they haven't seen in four months and the professors are already running in and out of their offices. This means that the Historic Preservation ice cream social is once again upon us! Annual Historic Preservation Picnic

Please come join the Historic Preservation department for an evening of fun and food on Thursday April 26th for our annual end-of-the-year picnic. All preservation and potential preservation majors are welcome! Please feel free to bring you friends, roommates and countrymen. There will be free food, lawn games, and maybe even music performed by Professor Stanton! Scholarships and awards will also be announced.
