Museum Studies Speaker: Lonnie Bunch

RESCHEDULED TALK! Lonnie Bunch, Director of the National Museum of African American History and Culture at the Smithsonian, will speak to students in the Introduction to Museum Studies class on Wednesday, November 17 in Combs 237  at 11:00 and 2:00.  Mr. Bunch will be sharing his experiences heading up the creation of the next museum on the Mall, slated to open in 2015.  He was formerly President of the Chicago Historical Society, in which capacity he oversaw its transformation into the Chicago History Museum.  Prior to that he served for many years as a curator for the National Museum of American History, including several years as Associate Director for Curatorial Affairs. The HISP Department will be hosting an Open House on Saturday September 25 from 11 am to 1 pm in the Combs Atrium as part of the Parents' Weekend Events. New Historic Preservation Department Website Unveiled

Welcome to the new HISP website! After many years of obsolescence, the old system is finally being retired. The new site does away with the broken links and important information hidden in various sub-sub pages. No more searching through page after page to find the piece of information you need, only to realize what's there is years old! Instead, the new system has been streamlined and reorganized to make navigation intuitive. Some of the new features include: - A completely reorganized "major requirements" page. You can search for a course and see how it fits in your graduation plan on a single page, and pdfs of syllabi are accessible directly from both the course list and the diagram.
