Internships can be completed both for-credit and not-for-credit through the university.
- Internships do count toward the Experiential Learning requirement, but do not count toward the Geography major.
- A 3-credit internship or individual study is required for the GIS Certificate (GISC 491 or GISC 499).
UMW’s Center for Career and Professional Development (UC Suite 206) has information on how to find an internship and how to gain credit for an internship. You can also make an appointment to review your resume, conduct a mock interview, or get advice on careers or graduate school. You can also use these services after you graduate!
Sometimes, the Geography Department is told about internships: we advertise them by email, Twitter, Facebook and on the Geography noticeboard outside the Physical Lab (Monroe 319).
